Parenting. There’s no greater reward and no bigger frustration than being a parent. By parenting, you have the chance to watch your child grow, learn, and become the person they were always meant to be.
At Care Net, our peer counselors can help you explore what pregnancy and parenting would look like for you. They’ll show you the many resources available and assist you in overcoming challenges you may face.
Do You Have What It Takes to Be A Parent?
No one will ever tell you they were completely prepared to be a parent. Despite all the books, videos, and websites, you’re never ready. Because each child is unique, parenting must be unique too.
We’re sure the idea feels overwhelming, but take a step back and ask yourself some important questions:
- Would I have the support of the birth father, my parents, my friends?
- Will I have somewhere for my baby and I to live?
- What type of income do I have?
- Are there resources available to me?
- What will my future look like?
Parenting takes determination, patience, and strength. You’d be surprised at the amount of community support that’s available for women who choose to parent. Parenting in School
Federal and Texas law requires school districts to adjust their programs to help school-age parents and pregnant students continue their education. By law, a school can’t discriminate, but it can provide accommodations to students who are pregnant or parenting, such as excusing absences related to the pregnancy or medical care for a child.
In Texas, a school must excuse a student from school due to a health care appointment for either the student or the student’s child if the student attends school on the same day as the appointment.
Never doubt yourself when it comes to graduating from school even though you’re pregnant. You can do this. The staff at Care Net believes in you. We want to help you be the best parent you can be!
Earn While You Learn
Pregnancy and parenting are filled with lots of uncertainty. Care Net Pregnancy Center offers a program called Earn While You Learn, to answer many of the questions you have.
Our staff and peer counselors will put together a lesson plan that’s unique to your needs. The lessons can be streamed on your device or you can come in to the center to watch them. For each lesson you complete, you earn credit to spend in the Mommy Shoppe.

- Breastfeeding
- Illnesses and accidents
- Discipline and parenting
